When you audition, there's an unwritten rule about what you wear. The "audition uniform" consists of tight jeans, a plain top, natural makeup, natural hair- quite the opposite of my bohemian style (I wear five necklaces on a daily basis.) I recently went to a callback and threw a Free People crop top and clunky boot-heel hybrids in the car. I had this weird feeling that I would do something cool afterwards.
It ended up paying off! My Mami and I went to Chrome Yellow Trading co, a stylish coffee shop in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood in Atlanta. The coffee was amazing, and although the lack of vanilla lattes made me audibly gasp and probably scare the barista, it made me try a different flavor (coffee is like my dessert) and it was delicious! Plus the team was so friendly- perfect for a quick business meeting. Styling the plain audition outfit made me feel much better, and adding chunky heels with the high waisted jeans made my legs seem longer. Plus the colorful crop top paired perfectly with my sleek clutch. Moral of the story? Dress for success- even if it means having to change uncomfortably in the car.
