Hello, Ellijay!

A few weeks ago my family and I woke up itching for adventure, so we decided to visit Ellijay, GA.
Ellijay is the apple capital of Georgia and near the Appalachian Trail. It's full of forests, rivers, mountains, and one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. Seriously.

The drive was about an hour, and when we stepped out into the crisp Fall air, I felt a little more at peace. The downtown area was empty and in the distance I could see a sign that read "The Martyn House In Towne." We quickly entered only to find one of the best coffee shops ever. I apologize if this post is literally just about this place. That's how much I liked it.

The menu was written on chalkboards and there were so many types of lattes, pastries, and mason jars. It had a cabin house vibe while remaining modern, and the barista was so nice!

They served Batdorf and Bronson coffee, which is probably the best in Atlanta. I also had an apple pastry (hello, apple capital of Georgia) which was amazing, and Caleb tried their egg nog latte. He ended up getting another one to go.

I'll probably make the drive again soon just to go and experience this sweet place. Oh, and did I mention there was a doggie roaming around the premises? I melted.

Coffee shops aside, we hiked a nearby waterfall and though we gave up mid hike and decided to see the falls from the base (which we drove to), the fresh air was a welcome change. I'm not an outdoorsy girl, but I think everyone should get out of the city once in a while.

This trip was completely unplanned and only lasted half a day. If you're thinking of taking a small trip, just find any small town with beautiful views and stellar apples and go! Sometimes you don't need an expensive plane ticket or a trip to the other side of the world to experience a well needed vacation.

Where do you recommend I go next?
Much love,
Nikka
