I am not a cold weather person. Once Christmas is over, I expect summer to graciously appear and thaw out my cold heart. What I get, however, is a frozen January.
This being said, cold weather is a wonderful time to experiment with layers and dark, dramatic accessories. And I'm all for being a little more dramatic. So here are four winter accessories I've been warming up to this season.
1. Blanket Scarf.
Is there anything better than an accessory that makes you feel like it's ok to nap anywhere? My boyfriend gave me this H&M burgundy scarf and I've traveled with it, napped with it, and thrown it in last minute outfits. It has not let me down.
I've never been much of a hat person until now. My mami bought me this hat for Christmas and I didn't know how to react at first- was she prepping me for a cowboy halloween costume for next year? I decided to take it on my trip to Phoenix. Oh my goodness. Aside from the compliments and the "it girl" feeling I get while wearing it, it livens up every outfit. Did it take a little extra confidence to wear it without irony? Yes, but only because I looked much better.
3. Unique Purse.
I got this purse around three years ago, thinking I'd start to incorporate more prep into my style. Years later, I'm still a minimalist bohemian who doesn't love polos or plaid. It was collecting dust at the top of my closet until I decided to style my outfit around it, making the purse the focal point. It looked great and was so easy to style. Sometimes on cold winter days you need an easy way to make a great outfit- that's what a unique purse will do for you.
4. Cool Rain Boots.
I never realized how important rain boots are until Atlanta turned into Seattle for a bit; it was pouring for weeks. I wasn't mad, however, because I just got these gorgeous dark green rain boots. I highly suggest getting rain boots in interesting colors because it'll make rainy day outfits way easier to put together and it's like forcing yourself to jump out of your color comfort zone (I never wear green).
Hope this gave you enough encouragement to push through Winter without diving into a constant rut of sweaters + leggings + repeat :)
